In this hands-on Product Design course, you’ll use research and creative thinking to define problems, develop ideas, and create detailed designs ready for production.
You’ll study the full design process, from concept to production, covering ergonomics, aesthetics, usability, sustainability, and technology. You’ll also learn to communicate your designs through prototypes, sketches, and presentations.
Live projects with top brands will provide real-world experience, while our industry-active lecturers and state-of-the-art prototyping facilities offer valuable insights and tools. By graduation, youll be ready to create innovative products and thrive in the design sector.
Integrated Foundation Year
Integrated Foundation Year on this course, you will be first introduced to the fundamental principles of design. Your foundation year gives you the time, space and support to explore your strengths, build confidence and prepare for the demands of project-based, industry-focused learning. Modules are as follows:
Module 1: Diagnostic exploration - making informed choices
Module 2: Technical - Technical knowledge in practice
Module 3: Specialist - Innovating specialist practice
Module 4: Integration - Integrated practice for progression to Higher Education
After you have completed your Integrated Foundation Year, you will study the following:
Year 1
Year 1 builds core skills in 2D and 3D design, user research, and the iterative design process - using current industry software. Youll develop your own approach to product design and begin shaping your contextual studies research.

Year 2

Year 3
Final year centres on a self-directed major project for the Degree Show, alongside a collaborative brief, industry competitions, and a long-form dissertation. Youll graduate with a professional portfolio ready to take into the design industry.
