Photography (with Integrated Foundation & Professional Practice Years)

BA (Hons) Photography with Integrated Foundation Year and Professional Practice Year is a five-year degree programme, including a foundation year to help develop your skills and creativity before you start the first year of the degree course and your fourth year would be an industry placement to further develop your skills and CV.

Get stuck in and hands-on with one of the UK’s longest-running photography degrees. Shoot, process, and print using facilities most courses can’t compete with – full colour and black-and-white analogue darkrooms, professional photo studios, digital imaging suites, and an equipment store stocked with treasures to make any professional jealous.

Established in 1946, there’s a special heritage at UCA Farnham. You'll join a tradition that has produced titans of the industry and connects you to an international alumni network spanning editorial, documentary, fashion, fine art and commercial photography. Recent graduates are now working at ad agencies and magazines including Wallpaper* and The Sunday Times, and leading teams at the Association of Photographers, the Financial Times, and the Victoria & Albert Museum.

You'll cover video, sound, moving image, and innovative tech – as well as working with graphic designers on real commercial briefs to produce real client work. When you graduate, you’ll have the kind of portfolio and skillset that will turn heads and launch careers.

If you prefer a closer, more community feel, UCA’s creative campuses in Canterbury, Epsom, Farnham, and Maidstone could be for you. Each campus is home to a vibrant community of like-minded creatives, with supportive and passionate academic staff to help you bring your ideas to life.
