Aberdeen life

(5)·By Gemma M·Zoology· Jun 2023
The university of Aberdeen is a great university when it comes to studying zoology you cover a range of topics from genetics to conservation and even cover the majority of the tree of life studying diversity of life and get to learn about a whole range of organisms, the facilities are great with a brand new science teaching hub just opening last year where majority of sicence labs now take place these are truly hands on and give u a great experience. Accommodation at Aberdeen is great too whether you choose to stay in Hillhead owned by the uni and just a short 10 minuete walk to campus or one of the private student accommodations which there is plenty of all over the city. There is plenty of social life with lots of clubs and bars but also a tone of other fun stuff to do with plenty of coffee shops on campus and a wide range of societies there's always somewhere to meet new people

Commuting for uni

(5)·By Liam S·Biochemistry· Jun 2023
My uni experience has been quite different to my peers since I chose to stay at home. Although many say you miss out doing this, I feel like I have had a very positive experience. I put myself out there from day one which has benefited me massively, having a strong friendship group and participating in a sports society. Overall, I have thoroughly enjoyed uni at Aberdeen so far and look forward to continuing

Law / Legal Studies, Graduate

Really fun! Lots of house parties and events going on at clubs and bars. Lots of different options at different price points. I lived at Spring Gardens (Unite Students). Modern flats and conveniently located - near town & uni. Great facilities. The law library had almost all resources I needed. Lots of brilliant lecturers in the law faculty. Lectures were delivered in large classes and lecturers had an open door policy - easy to talk to and go to their offices if you wanted to chat. Convenient for student life. Everything was within walking distance so didn't need to rely on public transport.

Politics / International Relations, Year 2

(5)·By Mohammed-Sayeed A·Politics· Jul 2021
It was good. Met a few people Hillhead was fun. Great people, sometimes noisy but that wasn't for very long Facilities were really good. St Duncan's library is amazing The professors were very knowledgeable about the subject and were always more than willing to help Quieter, but in a nice way. It's not empty, there are things to do, but it's also really scenic with Seaton Park and the beach right across the road

Geology, Graduate

(5)·By Skye S·Geology· Jul 2021
Disorganised and messy. Mostly alcohol based and ran by students. Hard to utilise the events. Decent! Nice community atmosphere and quality of buildings. Amazing library and sports facilities! No student Union. Beautiful old classrooms. Very interactive lecturers. Lots of content. Active practicals. Small city atmosphere was very homely.

Psychology, Year 1

(5)·By Catriona C·Psychology· Oct 2018
So far I have loved being a student here. The campus is beautiful, well laid out. I've never had any problems figuring out where anything is. Many events during freshers so was easy to get settled in. Great to meeting my lecturers before classes as well as people who will be on my course. I was really pleased to find I was sharing with people who were the same age as me as I'm a couple of years older than most freshers so I was worried I would feel awkward. My courses are interesting and I was eased into nicely so didn't feel overwhelmed at any point. So all in all I would say this is a great place to go to university.

My university has a great faculty. Couldn't ask for better support. The campus is fantastic and full of history. The campus is really close to town and only five minutes from my house which is fabulous.

Law, Year 3

Im an exchange student and I xan honestly say it has been the greatest experience ever, I will definitely recommend other to come to the University of Aberdeen. They not only have a great study program, but the extracurricular activities are also well planned, there are more than 50 different societies you can join and I bet no matter which you choose you will have the beat time.
The city is beautiful, and the people in it are very welcoming.
The nightlife is a lot of fun, all the bars and clubs are in walking distances, so you can go to all of them in one night if you desire!

University of Aberdeen

(4.8)·By James O·Physiology· Jun 2023
The university overall is excellent. I enjoy my course and I feel the modules are taught very well and they are easy to follow the way they are timetabled. The lectures are very clever and are very good at giving you the exact information you need and are expected to know. The university accommodation Hillhead is just the typical university accommodation but the central building is what makes it stand out. With the on site co-op making it easy to grab the essentials. Then it includes many social aspect such as the bar/restaurants and the badminton courts. I will say the facilities overall are good but some buildings and facilities need an upgrade. The new science hub is a perfect example of the facilities that is needed at the university.
