**Course overview**<br/><br/>Our BA (Hons) Chinese Studies (with Foundation Year) is perfect if you want to study Chinese at degree level but dont have the right qualifications.<br/><br/>On the foundation year, youll be introduced to essential academic skills to help you succeed in higher education. Youll also explore the historical, cultural and linguistic aspects of Chinese studies. No previous knowledge of Chinese is needed.<br/><br/>Youll gain critical skills in research, intercultural communication and global awareness. Alongside this youll explore language, politics and society in depth.<br/><br/>When you successfully complete the foundation year, youll progress onto BA (Hons) Chinese Studies. From Year 1 youll immerse yourself in the Chinese language, culture and society. Youll learn to master Chinese (Mandarin) and even have the chance to spend a year abroad.<br/><br/>**Why study this course**<br/><br/><br/>- Youll focus on learning intercultural and language skills, preparing you for a career in a truly global world.<br/><br/><br/>- Get the opportunity to explore a wide range of issues like environmentalism, law and political systems through a Chinese studies lens.<br/><br/><br/>- There is an emphasis on digital literacy and independent research. This will prepare you for a range of careers in – or connected to – the Asia Pacific region.<br/><br/>The main focus of this degree course is developing fluency in Chinese. By getting an insight into cultural context you’ll develop a range of transferable skills. Youll get a well-rounded understanding of the Asia Pacific. This knowledge will offer a competitive advantage in the jobs market.<br/><br/>Your career prospects will be widely varied after you graduate.
