**Course Overview**<br/><br/>Computers are a ubiquitous part of our lives. On our Computer Science Foundation Year Degree, you get to study the systems and software that permeate our work and leisure. <br/><br/>**Why study with us**<br/><br/><br/>- Learn how to apply computational thinking, study databases and human computer interaction and participate in a team-based software development projects to apply your project management skills.<br/><br/><br/>- You’ll explore the legal responsibilities of software developers and learn how to apply industry-standard software development techniques to modern applications; to manage software projects; and to program effectively in C++. <br/><br/><br/>- This degree will develop your programming and analysis skills, understanding of computer and network technology, and security.<br/><br/><br/>**What you’ll do** <br/><br/><br/>- You’ll gain invaluable transferable skills through a practical approach to computing underpinned by academic theory. <br/><br/><br/>- You won’t only know the theory when you finish; you’ll actually be able to apply it to solve real-life problems. <br/><br/><br/>- Our laboratories allow you to use specialist software and to do things that wouldn’t be allowed on a public network (like configuring networks or database servers, or testing system security). <br/><br/><br/>**Accreditations** <br/><br/><br/>- The CITP provides independent recognition for professionals in the IT industry. This course has accreditation leading to BCS Professional Member (MBCS), Certified Information Technology Professional (CITP) and partial CEng exemption from the BCS, the professional computing body.<br/><br/><br/>- We are an Educational Member of the British Computer Society providing benefits to our students such a free BCS membership for the duration of their Computer Science course.
