Let the historical setting of our Greenwich Campus inspire your studies of British, European and world history.

History is more than the study of the past. It asks how our world is the way it is, and what it might be. In our BA Hons History degree, you will explore early modern and modern histories of gender, environment, empire, and culture in British, imperial, and global contexts.

You will study at a UNESCO World Heritage Site that has been home to royal palaces, institutions of empire, and a diverse range of communities from all over the globe. You will have access to a wide range of local heritage and community partners, and will be within easy reach of major London archives, libraries and museums.

The course brings together British, imperial, and global history and combines academic rigour with a strong focus on future opportunities through diverse and employability-focused assessments. As well as developing the advanced research skills needed by historians, you’ll build strengths in critical thinking, analysis, communication, and project management that are valued in a wide range of careers.

You can choose a four-year sandwich course to gain professional experience through an extended placement. Alternatively, our part-time option enables you to fit your studies around work and other commitments.

Avery Hill Campus offers students a relaxed environment in the leafy London neighbourhood of Eltham and is only 30 minutes by train from central London. Everything is on-site and there are many students living on campus so it's a lively place to be.

Medway Campus is a historic site with redbrick buildings in north Kent. Students live, work and socialise on-site. There's a shopping centre across the road and the train to London takes 45 minutes.

There are hundreds of degree courses to choose from in a wide range of disciplines. Many courses offer a placement year option, giving you the chance to gain career-enhancing industry experience. There are also opportunities to earn while you study with the Student Job shop scheme.
