A practical early years course with a work placement twice a week, as well as visits to forest schools/outdoor learning centres and the opportunity to graduate with Early Years Teacher Status.

If you are interested in working with Early Years children between 0-8 years, and would like to learn both at university and through a weekly real-world work placement, this course is ideal. This degree, which gives you the recognised qualification in the early years sector, allows you to gain a deep understanding of the sector, child development and multi-agency working.

You will begin your studies focussing on the importance of the child, their families and holistic development. With this solid foundation you will then explore the curriculum in detail with the opportunity of planning, implementing and evaluating activities and experiences for young children.

Alongside developing your academic skills, you will be challenged to explore some of the more topical issues dominating the sector and through this we hope you become confident in leading and advocating for the sector and the rights and participation of young children.

What you should know about this course:
- 96% Student Satisfaction with Teaching on my course (2025 National Student Survey).

• You will learn in a very practical and applied way, linking university teaching and learning to the real world environment.

• You will be on placement for two days per week for the entirety of the programme working directly with children.

• Our specialist facilities simulate an early years nursery for practical academic lessons that will prepare you for employment.

• Taught at our historic Greenwich Campus, part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site on the banks of the River Thames.
