This degree with a foundation year is designed for students who may not meet the standard entry requirements but have a strong interest in pharmaceutical sciences. The foundation year provides a solid grounding in core scientific principles, helping you build the knowledge and confidence needed to progress onto the full degree programme.
Once you move into the main degree, you’ll explore a wide range of subjects including biochemistry, biology, immunology, physiology, pharmacology, toxicology and drug design and delivery. You’ll also gain hands-on experience through laboratory work and an independent research project, developing both practical skills and scientific insight.
The course is accredited by the Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences (APS), which confirms that it meets the high standards expected by the profession. This accreditation ensures that the curriculum and student experience are aligned with industry needs, preparing you for a successful and rewarding career in pharmaceutical sciences.
This programme may include a range of learning activities such as on-campus teaching, practical sessions, workshops, placements or field-based work. These activities form part of the core learning experience.

What you should know about this course
* Our courses are accredited by the Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences, which means that our graduates are well placed to apply for membership of the Academy
* This four-year course includes the same modules as the three-year course but has a foundation year to make it available with lower requirements
* The foundation year will introduce you to the subject and develop your academic writing and computing skills, providing you with the skills to progress to Level 4/Year 1
* If you have the ability but not the qualifications, this course is your first step to graduation
* This course is taught at our Medway Campus in Chatham Maritime, Kent.
