The focus in these varies, from consultation, design and advisory, to site-based work. The HNC Civil Engineering provides the relevant qualification for a Civil Engineering Technician.

The HNC Civil Engineering course is delivered for two distinct groups, depending on the campus:
UHI Perth: the course is open to applicants who:\
◾ are already employed in the sector, or\
◾ have relevant industry experience or meet the minimum academic entry requirements but are not yet working in the industry
UHI Inverness: the HNC Civil Engineering is delivered as a full time programme to students who are not employed in the industry while studying
\*If you are already employed in the sector, you should apply to:\
◾BEng (Hons) Civil Engineering (Graduate Apprenticeship) (please see course page for entry requirements), or\
◾Civil Engineering (Modern Apprenticeship) (if you do not yet hold the required qualifications to apply to the Graduate Apprenticeship)
You will be taught by a team of enthusiastic lecturers with extensive experience and varied qualifications. We utilise expanding lab facilities and current technology in the delivery of your course and you will be introduced to themes of clean construction and digital innovation throughout the programme.
Students at both Inverness and Perth will benefit from guest presentations by industry professionals. Regular site visits and integrated work-based learning form part of the course for all Inverness students. Perth students may also have opportunities to participate in site visits and work placements.
At Inverness, work-based learning builds on your experience as a Civil Engineering trainee or technician, integrating your workplace experience into learning and teaching while providing workplace evidence towards achieving vocational qualifications.
