This means you’ll be working alongside qualified, experienced social workers immediately. Combining theoretical study with practical learning on placement is the best way of gaining the skills needed to be an effective social worker.

- Get a cash award: From the second year, you can apply for a Social Work Bursary from the NHS, which is worth £4862.50 a year. It doesn’t need to be paid back and you can apply for both your second and third year.

- Accredited qualifications: This degree is accredited by Social Work England. This means that as soon as you graduate, you can register as a qualified social worker.

**Where could this take me?**

As this is an accredited social work course, many of our graduates work as social workers, supporting people in their community. The people-focused skills they have gained on the course are transferable to other careers too, though.

Some graduates become counsellors or mental health practitioners, community workers, housing officers or welfare rights advisers.
