Excellent for Everything

(5)·By Theodore D·Politics· Jun 2024
The University of Hull provides excellent education. I love the course, it is comprehensive and the assignments are inventive and interesting. Hull is a great city with a rich culture and the accommodation at the university has been perfect and very responsive to any issues.

In my first year I was shy and quite, thoughout the years I have grown as a person, now more outgoing and independent. Making friends here has been easy. The staff are really friendly and will go over and beond to help. I wouldn't go to any other uni.

Incredible

(5)·By Habiba M·Biology· Jun 2023
University gave me the confidence I really needed, especially after being in lockdown and having to deal with COVID. I have always struggled with making friends but have found friends I know I will have for life. I enjoy being around people a lot more, I enjoy lectures and study days at the library with friends. This has been something I've always wanted and now get to experience. University was a great choice for me and I am incredibly glad I chose Hull.

Marketing, Year 2

(5)·By Sam A·Marketing· Jul 2021
Freshers week was fun last year. There was plenty to do and a lot of effort had gone into organising everything. New students felt very welcome and there was lots of information about the area and things to do. I stayed at The Courtyard in first year. The rooms were newly built and provided a modern feel to it. The reception staff were very friendly and always helped if you needed something. The library is amazing at Hull. The 24 hour access is extremely useful for those with an alternative working schedule. The sports facilities are amazing and the university gym is great too. The classrooms are clean and well decorated despite them being in older buildings. First year provided me with a different range of skills and knowledge about different subjects that I didn't know at all. In first year, I got a taste of all the different subjects in the business faculty. For example I studied a module on Accounting and finance that i enjoyed. The lectures are interactive and fun and the lecturers are friendly. The city life in Hull is great. There are streets such as Newland Avenue that are filled with pubs, bars, cafes and shops that are located close to the university. In addition to this, the nightlife in the city centre is amazing as there's plenty of pubs, bars and clubs to go too. Hull is a very multicultural place with a lot of history, museums and parks to go to.

Medicine, Year 3

(5)·By Caol·Medicine· Jul 2021
It was a great experience, meeting other members of my course and making really close friends who are still some of the people I am closest to now. I loved it. I stayed in Westfield court. It had it's problems and was a little expensive. But the experience was great. Library was amazing. 24 hours access - great for when deadlines are fast approaching. They're quiet and can get work done. Originally the lecture hall (ryton) was always cold but very intimate and great opportunities to really engage with lecturers. Now we have lectures in Allam while on campus and it's great! The student Union has got a wide variety of food and leisure activities. Very tight knit community within medicine - we've our own events to get to know everyone and everyone will try to help eachother out concerning notes if you were ill / difficult topics. It's a really good community. From what I can gather not like other medical schools. We're a big family. I'm very grateful. Very different for me personally but I grew to love Hull and I'm sure others will too!

Psychology / Criminology, Year 2

(5)·By Jess W·Psychology· Jul 2021
It was great, the University had lots of events which allowed me to meet other students. The night club is on the complex so is really accessible. Looking forward to next years freshers, if there is one due to covid! I do not live on Campus, however my friends that do have said that the accommodation is great. I am thinking that I will move there in third year. I have not heard anything negative! The library is huge, making it easy and enjoyable to study. Also, the sports areas are great, last year I had a gym membership and I would highly recommend it. Criminology is great, the lecturers are very approachable and quick to respond to queries. I enjoy learning about all aspects of policing, and hope to do a work placement next year. Before covid, I found city life in Hull so great! The night clubs are amazing and had good events on. Looking forward to them being back on

Psychology / Criminology, Year 3

(5)·By Emily J·Psychology· Jul 2021
I don't remember there being anything on during the freshers week. We had an induction lecture to each module the week teaching began. But for the first two weeks of freshers there was nothing. I lived at home in my first year. I moved into private accommodation (not affiliated with University of Hull) in my second and third year. I think the facilities at Hull Uni are brilliant. We have so much study space to suit each individual. Lots of places to eat around the campus and within the Union. The gym is brilliant and has a student discount. The course (criminology) is brilliant. My lecturers are all down to earth and understanding people. They make the content interesting and informative. Hull is a friendly city. The nightlife is brilliant. Although the uni isn't near the city centre there is so much close by.
