Business Computing with foundation year

Our BSc in Business Computing with Foundation Year is designed for you if you're interested in understanding how digital technologies are transforming organisations, markets and society, providing you with the knowledge and skills to play an active role in shaping tomorrow's future. In our data-driven world, no business decision can be made without considering the impact of technology, and no technology succeeds without an understanding of people, organisations and markets. You will explore key areas of business such as marketing, management, strategy and entrepreneurship, while also developing technical competencies in computing, programming, databases, artificial intelligence, human-computer interaction and data-driven decision-making. This unique combination will ensure you graduate not just as a business or computing specialist, but as someone who can play the vital role of bridging the gap between the two; an increasingly sought-after skill set by employers.

This exciting course will connect theory to real-world challenges and you will not only learn the principles of marketing but also apply them to digital platforms and consumer behaviour in the online world. You will study artificial intelligence not just as an abstract concept, but in terms of how it reshapes workplaces, products and ethics. From developing apps and interfaces, to exploring how organisations harness data, you will be encouraged to think critically about the role of technology in business innovation throughout the course.

In the first year of this course you will be working towards passing a foundation year (year 0), which will enable automatic progression onto year one of our BSc Business Computing.

Our integrated Business Foundation Year degrees are aimed at students who wish to study a business-related subject but don't have the traditional entry requirements.

The course is run on the University of Leicester campus like any other, and you will studying alongside other students who applied for, and slightly missed out on, a place on a course similar to yours.

You will be taught by our expert academic staff from across the School of Business. The course strongly emphasises the development of essential professional and personal skills, which are necessary throughout your studies and beyond.

During your foundation year you will join our student community and be able to enjoy all aspects of the University of Leicester and School of Business student experience. You will be able to join the Students' Union, use our academic and leisure facilities, live in our accommodation and access all our support services.

You will have a dedicated personal tutor to support you throughout your foundation year.
