The MSci (Hons) Biomedical Science at the University of Plymouth is an integrated four-year full-time (or five-year sandwich) master’s degree designed to provide a comprehensive, research-informed education in the scientific principles underpinning human health, disease, diagnostics, and therapeutics. The programme integrates advanced theoretical knowledge alongside extensive practical experience intended to prepare graduates for professional and research careers in biomedical science.<br/>Students will engage with current developments in biomedicine and explore their application to clinical and diagnostic practice. Teaching is delivered by academic staff, NHS professionals, and active researchers within the Faculty of Health, ensuring the curriculum reflects both scientific innovation and healthcare relevance. The programme also offers opportunities to undertake an extended research project and to study specialist areas of biomedical science aligned with the School’s research goals. Students will also benefit from access to state of-the-art facilities, alongside dedicated academic, pastoral and peer assisted learning support (PALS).<br/>In addition to developing scientific and research expertise, students will cultivate essential leadership and management skills relevant to professional practice, team-based laboratory environments, and the wider healthcare and life science sector.<br/>On completion, graduates will possess advanced scientific knowledge, technical proficiency, and professional skills, enabling progression to employment in biomedical research, healthcare, biotechnology, or doctoral level study.
