Illustration with Foundation Year BA (Hons)

With this foundation year course, youll gain all the credentials you need to begin your career in illustration. Its ideal for you if you dont yet meet the entry requirements of our undergraduate degree, if youre returning to study after a break away, or you need a bit of extra support to get uni-ready.<br/><br/>Youll spend a year studying with us on campus, through ICP. Youll get the knowledge and academic skills needed to take on a bachelors degree, learning how to analyse information, do research, and improve your academic writing.<br/><br/>The skills youll learn will help you work in teams as well as on your own in culturally diverse workplaces. Youll develop your understanding of new workplaces and environments, and how to adapt to new environments.<br/><br/>After your foundation year, youll be ready to move onto the first year of BA (Hons) Illustration.<br/><br/>**A guaranteed place**<br/>Once you’ve successfully completed your foundation year, youll be ready to progress onto BA (Hons) Illustration with a guaranteed place.<br/><br/>**Course highlights**<br/>- ICP is based on the University of Portsmouth campus so youll have access to all facilities, support and societies<br/><br/><br/>- When you finish your foundation year successfully, you get a guaranteed place on BA (Hons) Illustration<br/><br/><br/>- Get used to how lectures, seminars and tutorials work, so you can move onto your degree ready for success<br/><br/><br/>- Learn how to meet the demands of taking on a bachelors at university<br/><br/><br/>**Careers and opportunities**<br/>When you complete this foundation year, youll be all set to continue on to our BA (Hons) Illustration degree which will see you develop your creative and technical abilities. Previous graduates have gone on to careers in animation, artist book making, children’s book illustration, editorial illustration, graphic novels, comics, and zines and print making.<br/><br/>**Placement year**<br/>You can take an optional year-long placement to gain on-the-job experience in industries needing illustrators and designers. You can work for a company or organisation, or start up and run your own business. Together with your peers – or by yourself – youll build and launch a successful venture.<br/>Our students have been successful in a variety of placement roles, including Creative Media Technician, Art Facilitator, Graphic Designer and Illustration and Production Intern
