**Learn how to collect, analyse and interpret data – while developing your knowledge of mathematics – with our BSc Mathematics and Statistics with Data Science degree.**<br/><br/>As increasing amounts of data are collected on every aspect of human life and the world around us, in-depth knowledge of statistics is becoming more critical than ever. Statistical skills are applicable to a wide range of areas, including business, climate science, medicine and the civil service.<br/><br/>This course, taught by University of Reading’s Department of Mathematics and Statistics, has been designed to develop both your statistical and mathematical skills.<br/><br/>This degree is accredited by the Institute of Mathematics and its Aapplications to meet the educational requirements of the Chartered Mathematician designation when followed by subsequent training and experience in employment to obtain competencies to those specified by the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) for taught masters degrees.<br/><br/>**What you’ll study with BSc Mathematics and Statistics with Data Science**<br/>In mathematics you will study:<br/><br/><br/>- calculus<br/><br/><br/>- analysis<br/><br/><br/>- linear algebra<br/><br/><br/>- differential equations.<br/><br/><br/>In statistics you will cover:<br/><br/><br/>- linear models<br/><br/><br/>- statistical computing<br/><br/><br/>- probability.<br/><br/><br/>During the second year you will also take a skills module, which is designed to improve your transferable skills and enhance your employability.<br/><br/>Understand the statistics that influence our lives, and learn how to generate them yourself.<br/><br/>Your first year runs parallel with BSc Mathematics, ensuring that you have a thorough understanding of the foundations of mathematics required to study statistics. Following this, you will study probability and statistical theory, as well as applied statistics. <br/><br/>Experience statistical consultancy, working with peers to analyse real-life data and present your findings to an external member of industry.
