<strong>About the course</strong><br/><br/>MSci Adult and Mental Health Nursing is an integrated master’s degree designed for students who are passionate about supporting both the physical and mental wellbeing of others. Ranked in the top 10 in the UK for Nursing by the Guardian University Guide 2024 and 2nd in the UK for student satisfaction (Complete University Guide 2025), this programme develops a holistic approach to care across adult and mental health services.<br/><br/>On successful completion, you will be eligible to apply for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as an Adult and Mental Health Nurse. The course meets NMC standards and develops your expertise in physical and mental health assessment, risk management, holistic care planning, clinical skills, psychological interventions, medication management, leadership and evidence based practice.<br/><br/>As an integrated MSci, the programme combines undergraduate and postgraduate study, giving you advanced knowledge, enhanced research capability and extended clinical expertise.<br/><br/><strong>What you’ll study</strong><br/><br/>You will build strong foundations in adult and mental health nursing, life sciences and health promotion, progressing towards advanced nursing analysis and research in your final year.<br/><br/>Modules may include:<br/><br/>• Foundations of Adult and Mental Health Nursing<br/><br/>• Fundamentals of Life Sciences<br/><br/>• Promoting Health and Preventing Ill-Health<br/><br/>• Practice Learning<br/><br/>Please note that modules are subject to validation by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).<br/><br/><strong>How you’ll learn</strong><br/><br/>You will learn through a combination of classroom teaching and hands-on clinical practice. Teaching includes lectures, seminars, group work, online learning and reflective practical exercises led by experienced academics and practising clinicians.<br/><br/>You will train in purpose-built Clinical Simulation Centres, including the Froebel Ward, mock consulting rooms and simulated home environments, using high-tech patient simulators to develop clinical confidence in a safe setting.<br/><br/>Practice placements are a core part of the programme and take place across NHS Trusts, community health services, primary care, mental health teams, hospitals, care homes and specialist services. An elective placement abroad may also be available.<br/><br/><strong>Future opportunities</strong><br/><br/>Graduates go on to work across a wide range of adult and mental health settings, including community nursing teams, inpatient mental health services, general practice, acute hospital wards, specialist services, research and education.<br/><br/>This integrated master’s degree also prepares you for specialist roles, leadership pathways and further postgraduate study, equipping you to make a meaningful impact in modern healthcare.<br/><br/><strong>Facilities</strong><br/><br/>Your training takes place in modern Clinical Simulation Centres at Froebel College and the Mary Seacole Health Innovation Centre at Digby Stuart College.<br/><br/>Facilities include:<br/><br/>• The Froebel Ward, a six-bed hospital ward simulation<br/><br/>• Mock consulting rooms and simulated patient home environments<br/><br/>• High-tech patient simulators and video-supported learning<br/><br/>These facilities provide a realistic and supportive environment to develop your clinical skills before applying them in real-world placements.
