<strong>About the course</strong><br/><br/>Computing Foundation Studies: Certificate of Higher Education (CertHE) is a one-year programme designed to build your academic confidence and introduce you to the core principles of computing.<br/><br/>The course equips you with the skills and knowledge needed to progress onto a full computing degree or move towards a career in the digital sector. On successful completion, you can progress to undergraduate study.<br/><br/><strong>What you’ll study</strong><br/><br/>You will develop foundations in computer science, data analysis and computational problem solving, alongside essential academic skills.<br/><br/>Modules may include:<br/><br/>• Academic Skills and Communication<br/><br/>• Data Analysis and Research Skills<br/><br/>• Foundations of Computer Science<br/><br/>• Problem Solving with Computing Thinking<br/><br/>Modules are subject to change.<br/><br/><strong>How you’ll learn</strong><br/><br/>Teaching takes place through lectures, seminars and workshops delivered by experienced academic staff.<br/><br/>You will receive regular support from an academic guidance tutor, alongside face-to-face and online careers and study support.<br/><br/>With teaching delivered over no more than three days per week, you will have flexibility to undertake part-time work, placements or internships alongside your studies.<br/><br/><strong>How you’ll be assessed</strong><br/><br/>Assessment methods include online tests, presentations and essays, designed to enhance understanding, encourage creative thinking and reflect real-world computing practice.<br/><br/>You will receive ongoing support from academic tutors throughout your studies.<br/><br/><strong>Future opportunities</strong><br/><br/>This CertHE prepares you to progress onto an undergraduate computing degree or move towards roles within the computing and digital industries.<br/><br/>You will also benefit from dedicated careers support to help you build your CV, prepare for interviews and connect with employers and graduates.
