The programme equips you with the knowledge, skills and practical experience to pursue a wide range of opportunities in education and related fields.<br/><br/>You will gain a thorough understanding of education by exploring historical perspectives alongside contemporary debates and emerging trends. The course combines theory with practical application, including digital literacy and the constructive use of AI, while engaging with key themes such as diversity, inclusion, sustainability, creativity and informal learning. Through placements, interactive projects and opportunities to study abroad, you will connect your academic learning to real world educational contexts.<br/><br/><strong>What you’ll study</strong><br/><br/>You’ll build a solid foundation in education studies, while gaining professional skills valued across teaching, policy, community and creative education sectors, including critical analysis of educational theory, inclusive practice, lifespan development, reflective practice, digital literacy and collaborative working.<br/><br/>Modules offered can vary each year but may include:<br/><br/>• Contemporary Issues in Education and Academic Skills for Success<br/><br/>• Education Foundations: Contexts, Values and Learning<br/><br/>• Inclusion and Diversity in Education<br/><br/>• Lifespan Development and Professional Practice<br/><br/><strong>How you’ll learn</strong><br/><br/>You will learn through:<br/><br/>• Interactive workshops, seminars and lectures that combine theory and practice<br/><br/>• Guest lectures, external visits and collaborative projects<br/><br/>• A 60 hour placement in an educational setting to consolidate professional skills<br/><br/>• Exploration of emerging tools and technologies, including the constructive use of artificial intelligence in education<br/><br/>• Varied and authentic assessments including portfolios, presentations, reflective writing, podcasts and analytical commentaries<br/><br/>You will also receive ongoing support through a shared study skills module, guidance from an Academic Guidance Tutor and a dedicated Student Engagement Coach to support your academic and personal development.<br/><br/><strong>Future opportunities</strong><br/><br/>As a graduate of BA Education, you will be prepared for a wide range of career pathways within education and related sectors.<br/><br/>• Primary teaching through progression to a PGCE<br/><br/>• Education policy and research roles<br/><br/>• Museum or creative education<br/><br/>• Third sector and community education work<br/><br/>The degree also provides a strong foundation for postgraduate study, including a PGCE or MA within the School of Education.<br/><br/><strong>Facilities</strong><br/><br/>You will study within a supportive School of Education known for high quality teaching and research.<br/><br/>• Placement opportunities in educational settings<br/><br/>• Interactive teaching spaces supporting workshops and collaborative learning<br/><br/>• Access to digital resources and emerging educational technologies<br/><br/>• Opportunities for external visits and professional networking<br/><br/>These facilities support your academic development and help you apply education knowledge with confidence.
