In a rapidly changing globalised world inequality and injustice is rife and interaction has never been more complex. <br/><br/>Yorks Criminology and Social Psychology Programme enables you to examine how crime is shaped by societal conditions external to the individual through language and interaction, media, identity and power within a framework of social norms, values and roles. You will become a problem solver and a creative and critical thinker drawing on the expertise of criminologists and social psychologists. Through the degree you will learn about the importance of multifaceted evidence-based explanations of individuals in society and challenge inequalities and discrimination. <br/><br/>In your final year you will be able to apply your research skills to a cutting edge criminological and/or social psychological issue of your choice. You will use your intellectual curiosity to develop research aims and questions to effectively communicate the critical aspects of the issue. In addition you will have the ability to select from a range of optional modules to develop areas of interest to further your personal ambitions. <br/><br/>As a graduate of the BA Criminology and Social Psychology Programme, you will be empowered as a skilled written and oral communicator and team player, and you will gain a range of computing and digital skills. You will be able to contribute to society as a creative, ethical, critical thinker and problem solver within a range of roles in the social and criminal justice systems and beyond. This is a programme for individuals who want to be better able to understand selfhood in changing social interactions and contexts whilst tackling injustice and inequality to bring about positive social change.
