Psychology / Criminology, Year 3

(5)·By Elise S·Psychology· Jul 2021
As I lived at home my first year, I was slightly secluded because of limited public transport. Freshers events organised by the uni were very friendly with lots of free stuff. I never lived there, it was a little outdated but constantly being improved. The student union is fantastic. Personal 1-2-1 with lecturers who always know your name and care about you as an individual. Small town but perfect. Supermarkets and shops in walking distance and a good nightlife.

It is a friendly atmosphere with amazing tutors, disability support, great facilities, high quality food, outstanding student union and also have fantastic study lecture rooms and study areas. You can always feel relaxed and get help for anything needed.

Perfect for me

(4.3)·By Al C·Other· Oct 2018
Glyndwr University is a vibrant place with a diverse community of students from all over the globe. It is small enough to offer that personal touch, but big enough to offer some really great courses. The tutors are always on hand to help and you are never just another number. This university has been perfect for me. Just remember when you get here, everyone is in the same boat, don't be shy, just say hello, people will talk to you. Hope this helps!

I'm really enjoying my time at Glyndwr! They are very supportive and have lots of facilities to help people. Everyone is very approachable and feel that any question I ask it gets answered and direct me in the right way.

Great support

(3.8)·By Rachael P·Other· Oct 2018
The university provide excellent support for the course I am studying as well as having experienced staff, which has made the learning side of university easier. I have made great friendships from my course, which has made my social life at university a very positive experience. For students thinking of attending Glyndwr, I would definitely recommend it. Along with supportive staff, diverse modules and peers that will be life-long friends, the university offers a variety of courses to attend which are beneficial for CV's, like the extra curriculum stuff.

Ok university in general

(3.8)·By john g·Archaeology· Oct 2018
I came here through clearing, as other universities didn't have enough places. This place looks very clinical and doesn't have many clubs to join. There was a bit og good advertising about houses for rent and I thought the university tutors were okay - sometimes tricky to get hold of if lots of people wanted a meeting. The response to emails did take a while, but at least Moodle was always updated.

They should introduce a meet and greet service

(3.8)·By bobby g·Building / Construction· Oct 2018
I wasn't keen on the place on the first day, as they didn't have any kind of meet and greet service. My brother goes to Bangor and he said that they get a guide to show them around and help them to meet other students - this would have been really useful for me, as I didn't know where to go or who to speak to.

Accounting, Graduate

(3.5)·By James R·Accounting· Jul 2021
Freshers week was exciting and I enjoyed meeting new people who I would become good friends with later on. Was a great chance to learn more about the uni, my course and the surroundings. I lived at home, a 10 minute drive and this worked well for me. Library and it's equipment was a bit old and outdated but had what I needed to study. The gym and student union was also small and outdated, in my final year a number of facilities such as the canteen and social areas were refreshed which was really positive. My lecturers were amazing, we became more like friends and they gave me the guidance I needed to do well on my course. They were always available and would encourage me to ask as many questions as possible, before answering any questions I had. The town itself has a lot of history and a good culture, however is not as affluent as nearby areas such as Chester or Shrewsbury. Has good variety of bars, but a lot of discount stores.

The university is a good campus and supplies a wide range of activities. I am enjoying my experience spending my time in the student lounge or in the new canteen. The lecturers are good and helpful and supply useful information
