Why choose this course?<br/>Our FdSc sports coaching degree has been designed to offer our students a hands-on approach to learning coaching skills and approaches whilst incorporating our outstanding geographical location within North Wales.<br/><br/>The course:<br/>Provides you with all the necessary skills and insight required to work within the sports and fitness industry<br/>Involves collaboration with external partners including NGBs, sports and fitness clubs and local businesses such as outdoor education provider Planetree Adventures and Fervid Fitness Gym, helping you expand your CV.<br/>You can also choose to enrol onto the 1-year top-up if you choose to continue, which will provide you with a full BSc (Hons) qualification.<br/><br/>Our academic team is here to inspire and empower learners through a commitment to excellence in sport and exercise sciences. We strive to create a dynamic environment that fosters innovative research and applied practice, forging strong partnerships with local and global communities. By integrating enterprise and consultancy into our courses, we aim to enhance the quality of education and promote sustainable practices in sport, coaching, health and fitness. Together, we will cultivate a culture of curiosity and collaboration, preparing you to lead and make impactful contributions to the field and beyond. <br/><br/>Key Course Features:<br/>Gain additional industry-based qualifications at a reduced cost alongside your degree, including Level 2 Gym Instructor, Level 3 Personal Trainer as well as free access to Hudl Sportscode Scripting Level 1 and 2.<br/>The programme is taught by lecturers from a wide range of backgrounds who are experienced, applied practitioners (from sports coaches to analysts, psychologists, and physiologists) and researchers within the fields of sport and exercise.<br/>Study in a Chartered Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (CASES) accredited laboratory.<br/>Take part in field trips exploring varied sport and fitness challenges within North Wales.<br/>Access cutting-edge technology including our strength & conditioning suite and human performance lab to support your understanding and enjoyment of the topics covered.<br/>Excellent support and personal tutor system to ensure students are supported throughout their studies.<br/>The programme offers real-world opportunities to experience the workplace and collaboration with external partners ensures students can leave us with a CV that stands out, helping to get that first foot on the employment ladder.

Our general entry requirement for the foundation year is 48-72 UCAS tariff points but all applications are considered individually and we consider work experience, vocational training/qualifications as well as motivation and potential to succeed. The programme welcomes applications from anyone who can demonstrate a commitment to the subject and the potential to complete their chosen programme successfully. This can be established by showing appropriate academic achievements or by demonstrating that they possess the knowledge and ability equivalent to the academic qualifications.
