Our Medicine with Gateway Year programme is designed for students from underrepresented or non-traditional backgrounds who may not yet have the qualifications needed for direct entry to a standard medical degree.

Our Medicine with Gateway Year programme is designed for students from underrepresented or non-traditional backgrounds who may not yet have the qualifications needed for direct entry to a standard medical degree.
Your six-year journey begins with a dedicated Gateway Year, where you’ll build a strong foundation in the core sciences, develop effective communication ski ls, and gain an introduction to professional medical practice.
On successful completion of the Gateway Year, you’ll progress to Year 1 of the Medicine programme. You’ll learn in our state-of the-art Anatomy Centre and be taught by a multidisciplinary team of expert academics, clinicians, doctors and scientists.
From Year 1 onwards, you’ll begin clinical placements in primary care, acute care and specialist healthcare settings, giving you early opportunities to apply your learning and gain hands-on experience with patients.
With demand for skill led medical professionals continuing to grow, you’ll graduate with the knowledge, skills and experience to begin a rewarding career in medicine and make a meaningful difference to the lives of your patients and communities.
