Animals kept in a captive environment have complex needs and requirements and understanding of these growing needs is important to all who work within the industry. The research priorities, enclosure design, education, the ex situ conservation, ecosystem approach, biological diversity and adaptive management are some of the themes learners will be exposed to. <br/><br/>This course aims to provide the student with an understanding of possible contributors to animal welfare; thus, enabling the individual to contribute positively to the zoo industry and wildlife conservation. The development of excellent communication skills will be a key graduate attribute for students who have undertaken this award.
