Why Aviation Management and Pilot Training at BNU?
Integrated Pilot Training and Degree
This programme offers a combination of academic study and professional pilot training. Unlike traditional aviation courses, you will graduate with both a BSc and a PPL(H). This dual qualification not only enhances your employability but also gives you the flexibility and the ability to progress into a full commercial helicopter License later.
Industry Partnerships
BNU has relationships with leading flight training organisations and major aviation companies throughout the country. These connections can help provide you with networking opportunities, which could lead to internships, and placements, increasing your exposure to the industry before you even graduate. We work closely with our industry connections to make sure that the course content is regularly updated to reflect real-world practices and standards, so you can be confident that you're learning what employers are looking for.
Aviation Management Skills
Studying topics such as airline operations, airport management, aviation law, and safety regulations will help you master Aviation Management. Our broad curriculum prepares you not only to fly helicopters but also to take on leadership and strategic roles in areas like airline management, logistics, operations, and air traffic control. Having management skills on top of your piloting qualifications can give you an edge in the highly competitive aviation sector.
State-of-the-Art Facilities
Gain hands-on experience, allowing you to practice flying techniques, emergency procedures, and other critical aspects of PPL(H) pilot training in a controlled environment. Your practical pilot training is complemented by classroom instruction, helping you develop both the technical skills and theoretical understanding necessary to excel as a pilot and aviation professional.
Global Career Opportunities
Combining a recognised UK degree with a Private Pilot Licence (Helicopter) (PPL(H)) provides opportunities for careers in helicopter aviation both in the UK and internationally. The course also develops the management, logistics and operational skills valued across airports, airlines and the wider aviation industry, preparing graduates for a range of professional roles worldwide.
What Facilities Can I Use?
Your helicopter pilot training is supported by classroom-based learning, helping you develop the practical skills and theoretical knowledge required for a career in aviation. You'll also benefit from industry partnerships and resources, including access to Airports Council International Europe, Cirium (FlightGlobal) and the London Heathrow Skills Partnership, providing current industry insights, developments and career opportunities.
What Will I Study?
This course combines aviation management with helicopter pilot training. You'll study airline and airport operations, aviation safety, security, aviation law, regulation and industry economics, gaining insight into the challenges facing the aviation sector. Through our external training partner HeliAir, you'll work towards a Private Pilot Licence (Helicopter) (PPL(H)), studying aerodynamics, navigation, flight planning, meteorology and helicopter systems alongside practical flight training and simulator experience.
