BNU Specialisms

In your first year, you'll explore a range of sport and exercise specialisms before deciding whether to continue on your degree or transfer to BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science. Both awards carry equal academic recognition.
The course is also available with an integrated Foundation Year, designed to help you develop academic skills and confidence before progressing to the full degree.

What Facilities Can I Use?

Much of your practical learning takes place within the Human Performance, Exercise and Wellbeing Centre, which includes a working clinic and human performance laboratory equipped with specialist sport science equipment used in professional practice.
You'll also have access to a range of sport and fitness facilities, including a sports hall, fitness centre and the Gateway Gym at our High Wycombe campus. In addition, our library provides extensive learning resources and dedicated study spaces.

What Will I Study?

This programme prepares you to support athletes and teams in performance sport, combining scientific principles with applied strength and conditioning practice. Developed in line with CIMSPA and Graduate Strength and Conditioning Coach (GSCC) professional standards, it equips you with the knowledge and skills needed for the industry.
You'll study exercise physiology, biomechanics, performance analysis, sport psychology, research methods, sports injury rehabilitation, data analysis and strength and conditioning techniques. Learning is reinforced through practical sessions and simulated industry scenarios, helping you apply theory in real-world contexts.
You'll develop skills in fitness testing, performance assessment, critical thinking, leadership and scientific reasoning while gaining experience with industry-standard tools and technologies. The course culminates in a Sports Science in Practice module, where you'll contribute to the delivery of sport science services for internal and external clients, enhancing your professional experience and employability.
