Performance Analysis and Monitoring
The course develops your ability to evaluate sporting performance through technical and tactical analysis, fitness testing and performance monitoring techniques. You'll learn to apply evidence-based approaches that support athlete development and performance improvement.
Get Involved
As part of the BNU community, you'll have opportunities to engage with a wide range of Students' Union activities, societies, sports clubs, events and trips. You'll also have opportunities to gain externally recognised coaching qualifications and relevant work experience with schools, colleges and sports organisations, subject to a successful DBS check.
What Will I Study?
This course introduces you to performance sport and explores the scientific principles, research methods and coaching techniques used to enhance performance. It provides a strong foundation for careers in sports coaching, performance sport and related postgraduate study.
You'll study topics including coaching practice, performance analysis and athlete development, with opportunities to gain practical experience and industry-recognised coaching qualifications. Work experience opportunities with schools, colleges, sports clubs and community organisations help prepare you for employment in the sector.
The first year is shared with other sport courses, giving you the opportunity to explore different areas of sport before deciding whether to continue on your course or transfer to another sport-related degree pathway.

What Facilities Can I Use?
Our Human Performance, Exercise and Wellbeing Centre includes the Human Performance Lab and Sports and Wellbeing Clinic, providing access to specialist facilities used in sport and exercise science.
Facilities include a three-lane indoor running track, 3D motion-capture technology and advanced body composition and performance analysis equipment. These resources help you develop practical skills in performance testing, athlete monitoring, injury prevention and rehabilitation.
You'll also have access to the Gateway Gym at our High Wycombe campus, offering modern fitness facilities, expert support and student membership rates.
