From Brontë’s classics to the origins of dialects, we’ll cover over 3,000 years of literary history. You’ll also delve into areas like sociolinguistics, bilingualism, child language development, gender and sexuality.<br/><br/>Do you want to evaluate and examine topics from literary history to language change? The flexibility of our English degree gives you the power to shape your studies. Choose modules such as Contemporary American Literature, Modernisms or Forensic Linguistics from Year 2 onwards.<br/><br/>You’ll also get the chance to focus on a single author and study them extensively. Understand their writing against the historical, cultural and literary context in which they were written. In English language, you’ll examine key aspects, including its structure, sound system, history and ongoing development.<br/><br/>Develop the key transferable skills and subject-specific knowledge in this integrated four year programme.
