My experience with glasgow Caledonian university (GCU) has been the best! I have nothing but positive memories. I have had great support from the start. GCU has helped me to continue my education after leaving secondary school and I have developed my learning greatly.

Business and Management Studies, Year 3 Plus

Good night life in Glasgow but our union isn't used as much as Strathclyde's - needs more pool tables! The newly upgraded campus lookss great though. The teaching staff want the best for you and are very helpful by putting aside a lot of time for personal contact. I stay in a flat in Glasgow so can't comment on the halls nearest GCU but I've heard good things. Will miss staying in my flat with my mates 30 seconds walk away from the pubs

Aural / Oral Sciences, Year 2

(5)·By Alexandra K·Aural / Oral Sciences· Jul 2021
Freshers week was pretty non existent this year due to covid. Last years was really good, free fun fair rides and loads discounts for clubs, bars and restaurants. A good way to get us settled into new uni life. I personally don't stay in the uni's accomodation but I know a couple of people who do. I've not heard any complaints apart from the pricing. I don't actually study in the main uni I study in GDH, but the library is always spotless with loads of choices for books etc to borrow. Really good LDC resources if you find yourself needing some extra help with essay writing etc. I love my course, I attempted for 3/4 years to get in before I eventually did due to it being reallt competitive as there are only 13/14 slots every year. The lectures are quite heavy in first year to prepare you for osces and sat's. City life is good, nice buzz. It's a nice change of scenery to living in a more rural area.

Top class social science lecturers who keep the topic interesting. Very good support and staff care for additional needs which may impact on studying. Great societies and additional opportunities and a chance to play your part in uni life. All you can ask for!

I started GCU in 2022 as a direct entry student from collage, GCU gave me the opportunity to start straight at third year, and have provided excellent support ever since!!

Business Studies, Year 1

It was great !! There were lots of events and opportunities to meet new people. It is clean and there are lots of different places for people to stay around campus. The campus is very modern and clean , I love the library and all the different floors. I find my course very interesting and varied , with lots of different subjects. City life is great there and tons of different clubs bars and shops. Don’t leave all your work to Last minute and make sure you read your module handbooks

International fashion business

Loved this course so much. It was a great mix of practical/theory. Super lovely lecturers and made so many friends. Anyone with a love for sewing and business would enjoy this course.

I loved at home and commuted into university and still made friends that I am still friends with 6 years later.

Good luck!

Building / Construction, Year 2

(5)·By Leia L·Building / Construction· Jul 2021
I never seen much construction related things. Just general activities etc. Cali court is known to be good with friends staff. Not sure about other accommodations. Library was always very useful. Student union isn't the best I've seen. Good lecturers make a big difference. Lecturers who act like they don't want to be there make you feel the same. Glasgow is always good for city life with so much to do around. A lot of good food places etc.

as i am part time i didn't get the full experience due to only being in 1 day a week. i do not stay in uni accommodation however have heard it is nice facilities are very good. Library is accessible all the time and good space. A lot of seating areas. Classrooms are standard but do the job I enjoyed the course as it allowed me to complete work outside of uni and go out into the industry in order to complete work very good and very busy. good nights out

Psychology, Year 4 Plus

My university experience has been amazing. The staff go out of their way to help you with what ever you need and the students are all really friendly. The equipment they have is brilliant and the library is really easy to use with a wide range of books.
