MA Creative Writing

(5)·By Abigail H·English Studies· Jun 2024
After completing my undergraduate degree at Trinity, continuing on to pursue my Masters there was an easy decision. The English lecturers, especially the module/course leaders, are exceptional and always willing to provide assistance when needed. I thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere - it feels like one big family - and the structured sessions greatly enhance the learning experience. The small groups facilitate discussions, making it easier to participate without the fear of speaking in front of a large audience. The assignments strike a perfect balance between academic and creative writing, with a nearly equal split of 50/50, which I found to be very appealing.

Education / Teacher Training, Year 3

I took part in some activities on campus such as fairs. It gave opportunities to meet people on my course and made me feel secure in starting uni! The accommodation is fit for purpose, proving everything needed for living on campus. It is close to uni making it easy to get to lectures and allows easy commute. Library provided a range of books however some online books were single use only! The sports areas were effective and varied, clean and inclusive! The student union were well known and approachable! There wasa range of skills offered and lots of preparation for placements. Work was provided to further learning out of lectures- very informative overall! The city life is busy, with lots of shops, food and a great night life! Easy access to everywhere and great student deals!

Education, Year 2

university has been the best experience I've had in my life so far. It was a learning curve because I became more independent and I've learnt so much from how to structure a 4000 word essay to be able to make a solid meal without giving myself food poisoning.

Absolutely amazing from start to finish. The lecturers were very supportive and fantastic at their jobs. The campus facilities were great for learning and student life equally. The halls at Leeds trinity are modern, great value for money and cosy. The library is open 24 hours if you need to use computers which is really useful at submission time. My graduation was a great experience, the university made it a very special day.

Criminology, Year 1

(4.8)·By Kerryann E·Psychology· Mar 2019
Freshers week was great. The University sold wristbands that allowed us to take part in events through each day and night of the whole week with transport there and back from venues. Couldn’t have asked for more, it was great value for money

Leeds Trinity has a great variety of accommodation. They have self catered and part catered halls as well as the self catered halls having en-suite bathrooms. All bills are included in the rent price, which is a lot cheaper than some student houses off campus. The accommodation is up to date and isn’t too overcrowded.

Lecture halls and classrooms are never too small which I think is great. As it is a smaller university it makes lectures feel less daunting as you’re not talking to a lecture hall full of people.
The library has a 24/7 computer room which comes in handy when deadlines become closer. Finding books that you need is so easy as the library website is connected to the computers in there with an easy to read filing system.
The Student Union is the best. They have great representation around the Univerisity which allows every student to know that they have someone looking out for them. They organise great events for students, petition for what students think is important for the university to have/do and are supportive of every student with the University.

My course is great because all my lecturers have a background in what they study. They have had jobs working in intelligence, the army, and prisons which allows me to learn about the practical part of criminology as well as the academic part.
The lectures are never too big so it feels a lot less informal and personal. It’s a better environment to learn in without fear of interrupting hundreds of people when wanting to ask a question.

Leeds Trinity is set in a town called Horsforth which is about 15 minutes from Leeds city centre. There is a train and bus which both get you into Leeds pretty quickly.
I like this as I can stay in a more quiet town most of the time and choose to go into town for shopping or nights out without worrying about a long commute.

I think it’s important that students know how great the lecturers are. Theyre always happy to answer any questions you have and have office hours whenever you need to talk to them. They give great lecturers as well as uploading any PowerPoint slides and information online to look back at.
The criminology course currently has no exams which is great for somebody who wants to study this subject but worries about exam performance.

English, Year 1

(4.8)·By Nimra A·English Studies· Oct 2018
The university is a tight knit fairly small community with a lot of support coming from teachers and other academic student support stuff including disabiled students. In particular i am happy with the counsellers and other mental health support provided. It is a fun experience with accepting people of all different cultures and things to do even if you can't go to parties and get drunk tonight. For example freshers week was full of activities like bowling, escape room and lazer tag.
