When you first apply to New College Telford you may not be completely certain about your career choices, so we provide impartial guidance and specialist careers advice to help you make the right decisions for you on your course choices.<br><br>A dedicated Student Services team is on hand to provide a wide range of support including up-to-date advice and help in applying for Higher Education places and employment opportunities. We can also help with a wide range of volunteering and work experience opportunities as well as entrepreneurial activities and contact with employers. The college also organises visits from - and trips to - a range of Higher Education institutions.<br><br>When you become a student at New College Telford, you will be allocated a personal tutor/learning mentor who will work with you and support you to monitor your progress and help you plan for the future to achieve your ambitions. Helping you keep track of your assignment deadlines and grades is important for your success. Specialist support New College Telford welcomes all applicants and has considerable experience in supporting students who are visually impaired, hearing impaired, physically disabled or who have specific learning needs. Specialist support is tailored to individual circumstances and can include assistive technologies, one-to-one and in-class support.<br><br>Financial support The college has a wide range of support available including help towards travel, course books, materials and equipment, educational trips needed for your course and more. In-year discretionary support is also available for students experiencing financial hardship.<br><br>The Bursary was established to support students who may be experiencing financial hardship to access education. Support is awarded based on eligibility criteria including: household income, students' dependency status and attendance and conduct at college. Personal support Support on personal issues and welfare is available throughout the year and is totally confidential. An experienced counsellor is also available who can offer free support on college-related or personal matters to help you maintain your studies and career aspirations.<br><br>Students living independently Support is also available for students living independently. Information on accommodation is available and issues with housing benefit, income support, disability allowance and UK residency can also be discussed and resolved.Keeping you safe and supporting your wellbeing.<br><br>The college is proud to actively promote healthy choices and runs events including the annual Health Fair and promotional campaigns on: healthy eating, alcohol and drugs awareness, sexual health, quitting smoking, safer driving and more. We can also make referrals to specialist external provision for health-related issues and support. New College Telford cares for the safety and security of the whole college community, our visitors and families. We have a range of mechanisms in place to ensure your safety. If you have any concerns you can contact Student Services or talk to any member of staff. Conduct New College Telford provides an adult environment in which everyone can learn and progress. The college has a culture of courtesy and respect among learners, staff, visitors and the college community. Students are expected to conduct themselves in a reasonable and appropriate manner at all times and to follow the college code of conduct.
