Have your sights set on a graduate training scheme? Or looking to enter the world of marketing?
With our BA (Hons) Business and Marketing course, you’ll combine broader learning of business with specialist studies in marketing.

During the course, you’ll gain a comprehensive understanding of marketing research and planning, with further module options digging down into areas including retail marketing, relationship marketing, content marketing, buyer behaviour and customer experience.

How does this course enhance my employability?
Thanks to the 50-50 split between marketing and wider business studies, you’ll be well-placed to choose a career path in either discipline following your graduation – from specialist marketer to broader business roles.
You will be encouraged to undertake a work placement, study abroad or combine both. In the final year, you’ll have the option to carry out a group consultancy project in the Faculty Business Clinic, a management enquiry project or a dissertation depending on whether you completed a placement. The management enquiry project will allow for working individually to investigate a real business issue, and gaining critical practical experience.

The course content has been developed in partnership with industry bodies the Data and Marketing Association (DMA) and the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), providing professional-level knowledge that gives you exemptions from taking some of their official qualifications.
It’s also covered by the prestigious Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) accreditation for Newcastle Business School.

Extended Degree
This extended degree provides an alternative route to higher education and supports those who don’t meet the standard entry requirements for an undergraduate degree. It includes a foundation year that gives you the chance to establish a strong academic foundation while exploring a wide range business issues, ranging from strategy and marketing to entrepreneurship and responsible management.

What will I learn in my Foundation Year?
This first year of this course will introduce you to the key concepts of human resource and marketing management and the concept of strategic and contemporary management. It will provide you with a broad context of knowledge and development of the essential skills required for industry. You will then learn how to apply key theoretical themes in an end of year project.

The foundation year of the course delivered at level 3 which develops your ability to study in Higher Education is not accredited. Subsequent levels and years are accredited and deliver the knowledge, competencies, and skills required to meet the specific course accreditation requirements that relate to the approved accredited award title.
