Our BA (Hons) Event Management degree will provide you with first-hand knowledge of the thriving and exciting global events industry, helping you to build your practical experience to support your career progression. You'll learn how to create and manage successful events that can contribute positively to social and economic development, building your confidence throughout the three years as you progress from working at events to eventually managing and producing them.
You'll be encouraged to apply your vocational and academic knowledge to plan, design, and deliver events - gaining essential skills and a clear progression to employment opportunities in the event section, such as the management of festivals, trade shows, civic events, sporting spectacles, weddings, and conferences.
You'll learn from a team of leading academics and practitioners with strong experience in the event sector and strong industry links to regional, national and international events. You can also benefit from a mentoring programme with course graduates, who now work in various roles across the industry.
There are many opportunities to gain experience beyond the course, such as attending guest lectures, participating in University events, and taking advantage of multiple work experience opportunities. And you'll be studying in the heart of Southampton, a key events hub on England’s south coast.
If you’re looking to study our event management degree but don’t have the relevant qualifications or experience, the business and law foundation year will help you develop the core skills and knowledge to progress. Find out more about the business and law foundation year.
This course also offers the option of a placement year. A placement year allows you to put what you've learned in your first and second years into practice in the workplace, gaining valuable real-world work experience before you graduate. Our course and placements teams will help you find the perfect industry placement in your chosen field.

We also support mature students who may have previously worked on events and now wish to formalise their experience with a degree qualification. Mature students may also include those with experience in a different sector who are now seeking a career change.
