Online uni done right

(5)·By Ciaran K·Computer Science· Jun 2023
I started the open university in 2019 and through the duration of my course I've been nothing but pleased with the course content and tutors. Throughout the pandemic when other unis struggled with online learning I felt totally comfortable with my open uni course. I would recommend it to anyone, especially people who want to learn and also have kids and a job like me.

As a student of the Open University, I have had a fantastic experience with this institution. One of the things that attracted me to the Open University was the flexibility it offered in terms of course delivery. As a working adult, I appreciated the fact that I could study at my own pace and fit my studies around my busy schedule.

The courses themselves have been challenging, but also very rewarding. I appreciate that the curriculum is up-to-date and taught by experienced and knowledgeable instructors. Additionally, the university provides ample resources to support my learning, including a personal tutor who has been incredibly helpful in providing feedback and guidance throughout my studies.

One of the things I love about the Open University is the community of students and alumni. Although I am studying remotely, I feel like I am part of a larger community of learners. The online forums and study groups have been a great way to connect with other students and get support when I need it.

Overall, I highly recommend the Open University to anyone looking for a flexible and high-quality education. The courses are challenging but rewarding, and the support and resources provided by the university are top-notch. As a student, I feel that I am getting an excellent education that will help me achieve my career goals.

Nights out are absolutely amazing, it's great to be able to make new friends and get to know them even better when spending an entire night with them, course tutors are lovely and love to help with any problems whatsoever, it's a great experience

Supportive

(5)·By Anna B·English Studies· Jun 2023
During my time with the OU, I've often struggled with managing my work load on top of a full time job, but I've always been up front with my tutors about this and they've provided me with extra support in whatever way they can. They have given me multiple extensions, arranged phone calls to go over the course material with me and provided in depth feedback that has helped me improve my writing and clarity of thought. The students have also been incredibly encouraging, we usually have a Facebook group that we join at the beginning of the modules we're studying and we use it to support each other and help where we can.

Classics and ancient history, Year 2

I have wanted to study and gain my degree for a few years but having my son put that on hold for a bit. Now the open university means I can study and look after my son so I will have gained my degree by the time he starts school. Despite studying alone and at home, I feel incredibly supported and helped by the university and my tutors. I have constant individual contact from tutors helping me along the way and the student support are really easy to contact and talk to. The website and the study planners are really well designed and easy to use, with studying being made as straightforward and easy as possible.

Environmental Science, Year 3

(5)·By Charlotte R·Art· Jul 2021
There were a few I'm online activities available to get involved with. Quizzes etc, but nothing that particularly interested me. Open University doesn't have accommodation as it is online based. I study from home. There are some great online resources with Open Uni. As an Open Uni student you also have the ability to apply for access to any university library (pre COVID). If find my course very interesting and engaging. It's well organised and lectures are set at times that fit around work. The Open uni is based solely online. I study from home.

Open university

Have enjoyed studying with the open university. The support for students is very good and the website is more than easy to navigate but with ample information and an extensive library.

It has been an amazing way to graduate with a degree while completing other personal goals due to the structure of the university.
The courses are well set out with guides and I found the information understand at all times.

My experience with the Open University has been amazing so far. I am nearly completed my first year. It is great being able to work full time and study part time online. Anytime I have needed help my tutor has been there to guide me. I am looking forward to continue my journey with them.

Philosophy, Graduate

It was really good. All of the stuff was online. They hosted quizzes. I don't use the accommodation. I live at home. The tutorial sites are great. Very clearly led out and welcoming. All lectures are online now. They are very informative and interactive. I love the city life. It's nice to go for different types of food and coffees.

Education / Teacher Training, Year 3

(5)·By Hannah L·Education / Teacher Training· Jul 2021
Was alot different than last year. But there were loads of online quizzes and competions There's is no accommodation as it's all distance learning There are good library facilities. There are many students clubs to join even though everyone is so far away. Still a good sense of community with the students association All the books you need are sent to you. Tutors are very helpful There's not much of a city life as I live in a quiet town in Devon.
