Not bad

Not bad studying from home. I wish I had more support that I might find going to study at a residential university. Now looking into an engineering and science access course for free.

The staff has been very friendly and helpful since day one, making you feel very welcome and appreciated. The course was superb, well-written, and well-done. Thank you for your service, I truly recommend it as postgraduate options for my career are always open and accessible. Our tutor provided us with all the information and clear guidance on what path to take in the future to progress.

Amazing

I moved here after having an unpleasant experience with a different university and am so thankful that I made this decision. The course is set out in a way that gives you all the information you need to find resources, submit essays, and ask questions. Tutors reply quickly to everything. Can’t fault it!

Online uni done right

(5)·By Ciaran K·Computer Science· Jun 2023
I started the open university in 2019 and through the duration of my course I've been nothing but pleased with the course content and tutors. Throughout the pandemic when other unis struggled with online learning I felt totally comfortable with my open uni course. I would recommend it to anyone, especially people who want to learn and also have kids and a job like me.

I would honestly and truthfully give the Open University a 10/10, because within the Open University you can astill wokr a job and get paid while studying, and you can also do studying in the comfort of your own home and not have to worry about fuel prices driving to university for lessons. All the lessons are online and it gives you a range of tutorials. Your tutors are always an email away or a call away if you ever need a question answered about a certain topic.

Supportive

(5)·By Anna B·English Studies· Jun 2023
During my time with the OU, I've often struggled with managing my work load on top of a full time job, but I've always been up front with my tutors about this and they've provided me with extra support in whatever way they can. They have given me multiple extensions, arranged phone calls to go over the course material with me and provided in depth feedback that has helped me improve my writing and clarity of thought. The students have also been incredibly encouraging, we usually have a Facebook group that we join at the beginning of the modules we're studying and we use it to support each other and help where we can.

Flexible

You can make your own time to do your work which helps with family life and balancing other commitments. There is lots of study material and you can reach out to your tutor and student services if you have any problems.

As a student of the Open University, I have had a fantastic experience with this institution. One of the things that attracted me to the Open University was the flexibility it offered in terms of course delivery. As a working adult, I appreciated the fact that I could study at my own pace and fit my studies around my busy schedule.

The courses themselves have been challenging, but also very rewarding. I appreciate that the curriculum is up-to-date and taught by experienced and knowledgeable instructors. Additionally, the university provides ample resources to support my learning, including a personal tutor who has been incredibly helpful in providing feedback and guidance throughout my studies.

One of the things I love about the Open University is the community of students and alumni. Although I am studying remotely, I feel like I am part of a larger community of learners. The online forums and study groups have been a great way to connect with other students and get support when I need it.

Overall, I highly recommend the Open University to anyone looking for a flexible and high-quality education. The courses are challenging but rewarding, and the support and resources provided by the university are top-notch. As a student, I feel that I am getting an excellent education that will help me achieve my career goals.

Open University - a route to discovery

(5)·By Jed T·Geography· Jun 2023
Open University is an alternative way of gaining your degree. No accommodation and maintenance costs to worry about, as you do your degree from the comfort of your home. Open University provide you with course materials (nicely parcelled and delivered to your door). The course books are supplemented with an online week by week study guide, containing additional information to that provided in your books. The online study guides also contain numerous activities to test your knowledge and refine your skills. Each month we complete a TMA based on the previous month learning block. We have a personal tutor who marks you TMA and provides support as required. There is a monthly tutorial that covers the material is each monthly block plus provide guidance on the TMA. We have an EMA at the end of the academic year which is similar to the TMA - bit marked externally. There are numerous forums to give help and support. Student also set up Watts App groups to help support each other. Open University is a fantastic way to get your qualifications and suits those that perhaps work or have care commitments, or for those that are perhaps retired and just want to enjoy the academic experience.
