The biotechnological potential of animals, plants and microorganisms is vast, particularly through the use of advancing genomic technologies.<br/><br/>There are many applications of biotechnology such as the development of novel medicines and healthcare products, through to the genetic manipulation of crops and algae for providing food security and bioenergy, and the use of plant and microbes for environmental engineering such as bioremediation.<br/><br/>Biotechnology is a core strength of the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Manchester.
