When the English Premier League increased the number of matches available for live broadcast from 154 to 168 per season for the 2016-19 period, they auctioned 126 to BSkyB and 42 to BT. The price was approximately £10.2million per match, totalling in excess of £5billion overall. Sports broadcasters ESPN and Sky Sports were second and fourth respectively in Forbes Magazine’s top 40 sports company brands of 2013.
