There is increasing recognition of the public health challenges that we now face, including the unprecedented global coronavirus pandemic. This degree has been designed to meet these challenges.<br/><br/>You will be taught by a dynamic team of academics from diverse professional backgrounds including nursing, social work, psychology, epidemiology, health promotion, sociology and social sciences. The team are actively involved in current public health research.<br/><br/>**This programme has been developed in partnership with City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council**<br/><br/>Employers place a high value on graduates who can show that they have relevant work experience.<br/>To prepare students for future employment, all students complete a work based placement during the 2nd year of the course. The placement takes place in Semester 1 of the 2nd year. Each placement is 100 hours, which is around 14 days.<br/><br/>The placement will give you the opportunity to apply your knowledge in real-world settings. You will also gain valuable experience and develop skills that will help you succeed in the job market when you graduate.<br/><br/>We work closely with employers to secure placement opportunities for students. Students have completed successful placements in areas such as:<br/>- Mental health<br/><br/><br/>- Drugs and alcohol services<br/><br/><br/>- Youth services<br/><br/><br/>- Care homes<br/><br/><br/>- Housing and homelessness<br/><br/><br/>- Supporting refugees and asylum seekers<br/><br/><br/>- Public health teams in local councils<br/><br/><br/>- Charities working in health and with vulnerable communities<br/><br/><br/>**Professional link**<br/>We are pleased to offer our new students a membership to the Royal Society of Public Health (RSPH). This gives our students a sense of identity with a professional body throughout their studies with us.
