Our BA (Hons) Education is an ideal route into the child workforce.<br/><br/>Our course lets you take your interest in education and learning to degree level. Youll study educational systems from early years to lifelong learning.<br/><br/>There is a strong focus on issues relating to inclusion and the needs of a diverse range of learners. You’ll look at the impact of many factors including:<br/><br/><br/>- Ethnicity<br/><br/><br/>- Poverty and deprivation<br/><br/><br/>- Gender<br/><br/><br/>- Disability and learning difficulties<br/><br/><br/>- Sexuality<br/><br/><br/>- Mental health<br/><br/><br/>- Those who have experienced abuse or bullying<br/><br/><br/>Throughout the course, youll explore the role of teachers and the shared nature of learning between schools, families, and professionals. Youll also explore learning theories and the curriculum. And youll develop the skills necessary to become an outstanding educational practitioner.<br/><br/>**Why choose us?**<br/><br/><br/>- Explore education through different perspectives to gain a deep understanding of the subject. This includes sociology, philosophy, and policy.<br/><br/><br/>- You could gain international work experience in your second or third year by volunteering with our Centre for Volunteering and Community Leadership.<br/><br/><br/>- You can undertake work placements in an educational setting. This could be nursery, primary, secondary or further education.<br/><br/><br/>**What youll do**<br/><br/><br/>- The course is ideal for anyone who aspires to join the teaching profession, but it is not a teacher training programme. It also offers routes into non-teaching careers or postgraduate research.<br/><br/><br/>- Our teaching and learning is student-centred. This means youll receive excellent support while being taught by expert academic. <br/><br/><br/>- Gain an excellent insight into what teaching requires. All while gaining valuable skills that will prepare you for a variety of careers in other fields.<br/><br/><br/>**Future Careers**<br/><br/>Many of our graduates go on to become teachers. They often go on to gain places on primary PGCE courses (teacher training) or undertake schools-based training. Take a look at the Get Into Teaching webpages for more advice on postgraduate routes into teaching. Our graduates also enter a range of other professional roles.<br/><br/>Throughout the course you’ll be supported by our academic advisers and our Careers Service. They may encourage you to undertake further study towards teacher training or postgraduate study. Some of our graduates have received Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) scholarships onto master’s and doctorate level study.<br/><br/>For educational professionals, you could opt to study our MEd Professional Practice in Education or Professional Doctorate in Education.<br/><br/>Some of our graduates have gone into professions including:<br/><br/><br/>- Careers advice and guidance roles<br/><br/><br/>- Community support<br/><br/><br/>- Social work<br/><br/><br/>- Learning mentoring<br/><br/><br/>- Pastoral roles in education<br/>
