Overview

From a teaching college in 1839 to the University we are today, we have a lot of experience in ensuring our students get what counts. Our quality courses are taught by academics who go the extra mile and our specialist sites are home to all sorts of subject-specific facilities. With placements available for the majority of our undergraduate degrees, we give our students the opportunity to build contacts, gain real experience and earn their first work reference. We also have study abroad connections with over 300 institutions, giving our students the chance to build a global network....

Job Prospects

We offer a range of opportunities for our students to network, make industry connections and prepare for the working world. Our Work Based Learning module, placement opportunities and links with industry and employers help students graduate a step ahead.

Our dedicated Careers and Employability team offers an invaluable service.

The team advertise work experience opportunities, help students gain part-time work, run a paid internship programme, and hold careers workshops to guide students through CV writing, interviews, assessment centres and key transferable skills.

The team also advertises local and national graduate job vacancies and when students are ready, they are there to guide them through every stage of the selection process. This support doesn’t end when our students complete their degree, it is readily available for up to two years after they graduate.

Student Life

We encourage our students to make the most of their time at university by seizing every opportunity. We’re in a great location with lots of extra opportunities to help our students grow socially as well as personally, and of course, make lots of new friends.

Our students can: learn a language; join a sports team, a band or a theatre group; get involved with or even run a society; volunteer at the University or within the local community; or become a Peer Mentor.

Our vibrant spaces have been designed with our students in mind, at the heart of a community with entertainment, culture, history and nature just waiting to be explored.

Tuition Fees, Scholarships and Bursaries

Undergraduate Students

Tuition Fees

The University works hard to ensure that tuition remains accessible to students from all backgrounds, and although fees do vary on a course-by-course basis, the guideline fees for the 2023/24 academic year are set: Home Students £9,250 per year of full-time undergraduate study; EU/International Students £13,450 per year of full-time undergraduate study.

The figures are intended as a guideline; more detailed information can be found by clicking on the Visit Website button.

Repayments of your Tuition Fee and Maintenance Loan will start in the April after you’ve graduated or left higher education. At the time of writing (January 2023), the student loan repayment threshold for English-resident students is £25,000 a year. The amount you repay each month is linked to your income, so what you pay back depends on what you earn. You’ll pay 9% of any income you earn over the threshold. If you’re earning less than the threshold, your student loan repayments won’t be deducted.
