Great Uni

(5)·By Brandon H·Electrical Engineering· Jun 2023
As a current second-year student at the University of Derby's Sound, Light, and Live Event Technology program, I can confidently say that this course is a great choice for anyone interested in the technical side of the entertainment industry. The program covers a wide range of topics, from lighting and sound design to event management and multimedia production. The hands-on nature of the course has allowed me to develop my skills in real-world settings, and the industry connections and networking opportunities provided by the university have already opened doors for me in my career. The faculty are knowledgeable and supportive, and the facilities are top-notch, making for a truly immersive and engaging learning experience.

Sports / Sports Science, Year 3

Insane! Uni really looked after us and there were multiple discount brackets available. Derby uni is a uni that really looks after it's student and makes sure that they have everything available to allow them to succeed. Even through COVID lockdowns they have made them self very available from lectures to support and well being. Library isn't open 24/7 which is annoying, but is very well adapted for students. The sport's facilities are top rate. The student uni changes every year consistently improving. And class rooms are all pretty knew and kept well. Lectures are brilliant! always available to help with assignments and give feedback. They also have an open fee back session at the end of each semester to know how to improve the following semester. Night life is great, not far from many of the accommodations. The uni puts on events for the students and has staff that make sure people get home safe after.

Education, Year 3

At my university the lecturers are very friendly and want us to succeed, they are approachable and make you feel at ease if you are worried about something.

Derby University also provides students with entertainment throughout the year from themed nights out to comedy shows.

This university has provided me with the confidence to succeed in my future career as a primary school teacher. I would highly recommend this university to anyone who is not only wanting a degree but also an enjoyable experience.

Civil Engineering, Year 3

I didn't attend freshers week as a part time student Don't live in the accommodation so no comment The facilities were great, including good options for food and drink (although pricey IMO) The course was good the lectures were often varied. With balanced practical and research based workload Derby is a small city but I think it has everything that's needed. Good nightlife and shopping. And variety of restaurants etc

Nursing, Year 1

(5)·By Catherine H·Nursing· Oct 2018
So I have been at the university of derby for just over 1 year, however last year I did the access course there and this year I am in my Year 1 of mental health nursing. I expected all modules to be really really hard however they are a breeze, are my lecturers are lovely and I have met some amazing peers. I can't wait to see what my time at the Univeristy of Derby brings me. I love being a student nurse and I am overwhelmed that in 3 years I will be registered thanks to the university of derby mental health team!

Geography and Environmental Studies, Year 1

(5)·By Joanne H·Geography· Oct 2018
I have found that the course is very interesting, with some field trips to make it more interesting than sitting in a lecture. Every time I have needed help, I have received responses from tutors within 2 working days. I like the amount of resources available in the library. I have always been able to find support from the students union or from student wellbeing when I have needed it. The university has very modern facilities such as labs. I like this university very much, and more than where I attended last year. I also love living in halls here!

Freshers week was amazing First year due to it not being lockdown and we had a lot more freedom being students and was very enjoyable appose to this year I love my university accommodation everyone is really friendly and the flat itself is perfect for me The classrooms and library are exceptional. Best university that I know of and the student union is very supportive and always on hand I believe the course is suited to me very well that's why it's good. Although there hasn't been many lectures in person this year as much as I would like City life is amazing! Absolutely love everything about Derby
