University of Derby Review

(5)·By Krzysztof M·Management· Apr 2026
As a first-year BSc Business Management student specialising in Logistics and Supply Chain at the University of Derby, I’ve genuinely had a really good experience so far. The course is interesting and feels relevant to what I want to do in the future, especially how it links business theory to real-life logistics and supply chain situations.

The Cavendish Building is a great place to study – it’s modern, comfortable, and has everything you need, which makes a big difference day to day. The lecturers have also been really supportive and easy to talk to, which has helped me settle in and stay motivated.

Overall, it’s been a positive start to university life, and I feel like I’m building a solid foundation for my future career.

The course itself is lead by two experienced instructors who have a wealth of knowledge which is shared to the benefit of the students. Since joining this course in September both Beth and Grace have been extremely professional in their work and supporting us with our placements in secondary schools.
I have benefited immensely from its course which has provided me with the skills necessary for post graduate employment.

Counselling and Psychotherapy

(5)·By kaitlin c·Psychology· Mar 2026
I would highly recommend the University of Derby to any potential students, The course quality is amazing, the lecturers are invested and excited about their subjects. In my personal experience The Counselling and Psychotherapy course is highly interactive, teaching valuable practical skills and high quality information relevant to future practice and It helps me feel prepared for future job opportunities. The facilities on the Kedleston Campus are perfect for if you need a quick bite in between lectures or you just need some necessities before heading back to your accommodations, the staff are helpful and the prices are very reasonable.
As a student, your social life is very important and The University of Derby makes sure to provide every opportunity for students to gather outside of the university, for example; Rammed. This happens every Wednesday int the Derby Popworld, giving students a safe and cheap way to have a fun night out.
Overall, I have loved my experience at the university so far and cant wait to see what the rest of my studies bring.

University of Derby - My Master's Journey

(5)·By Daniyal A·Civil Engineering· Feb 2026
I recently completed my Master's degree at the University of Derby, and I have to say, it was a pretty positive experience overall. It’s not often that I feel like I’ve truly gained something both academically and personally, but Derby managed to give me just that.

Academic Experience
The academic side of things was solid. The course content was relevant, challenging, and kept me on my toes. I really appreciated how the lecturers were not just teaching from textbooks but brought in their own research and real-world experience. It made everything feel less theoretical and more applicable. The assessments were tough but fair, and I could always count on getting meaningful feedback that helped me improve.

Support
What really stood out to me, though, was the support system. Being a Master's student can feel like you're on your own at times, but I never felt isolated. The staff were approachable and always ready to help, whether I needed advice on my dissertation or just wanted to talk things through. The student services team were fantastic, and I found that the university really made an effort to ensure I had the resources I needed, both academically and personally.

Campus Life
The campus itself is well equipped and has a good vibe. I spent a lot of time in the library, which is great for quiet study, and there are plenty of study spaces and comfy corners if you need a change of scenery. There’s also a nice mix of modern and older buildings that make the campus feel pretty cozy. I didn’t engage much in extracurricular activities as I was focused on my studies, but from what I saw, the undergrad community seemed really lively, and there were always events happening.

City and Location
Derby is a lovely, relatively small city, but it has everything you need cafes, shops, green spaces, and good transport links. It’s the kind of place that feels accessible without being overwhelming. I enjoyed walking around the city, and having everything within walking distance of the campus was a huge plus.

Value for Money
Considering the quality of the education, support, and facilities, I’d say Derby offers great value for money. Tuition fees weren’t sky high like some of the big name universities, but the experience felt just as good. I also appreciated how the university provided opportunities for career development, so I didn’t just feel like I was paying for lectures I was investing in my future.

Final Thoughts
Looking back, I feel like I made the right choice choosing the University of Derby for my Master's. It wasn’t just about the degree; it was about the people I met, the support I received, and how well prepared I felt for the next chapter of my career. If you’re looking for a university that’s got a solid academic reputation, offers great support, and is located in a city that’s easy to live in, I’d definitely recommend Derby.
