Why Study Nursing (Blended Learning) Child BSc(Hons) at University of Huddersfield?

During your studies, you’ll develop and put your clinical skills to the test, in a safe environment in our fully equipped, simulated children’s ward using patient simulators. You’ll practise your skills in acute settings, including children's wards, children’s hospitals, accident and emergency departments, and neonatal intensive care.
You'll be taught by a team who understand what it is like be a child nurse and are able to demonstrate the latest techniques and procedures, supporting you to put these skills into practice. You’ll learn online through seminars and group work, and you can become part of an online community, showcasing your work, establishing relationships with tutors, and collaborating with peers. You can also borrow a clinical skills kit, familiarising yourself with some fundamental equipment you may use in practice. You’ll also learn through independent, self-directed study, developing confidence in your self-discipline and organisational skills.
The University’s new Daphne Steele Building, on the site of the National Health Innovation campus, allows you to benefit from specialist clinical teaching facilities and world-leading research facilities.
Also, our Public Partnership Group (PPG) and Health and Wellbeing Academy work together to support your development as a compassionate, person-centred professional. You’ll engage with service users and carers through lectures, discussions, and simulations. Their lived experiences will help to build your communication skills, empathy, and the critical thinking needed to deliver outstanding care across diverse communities. While our Health and Wellbeing Academy offers hands-on placement opportunities through initiatives like Get Set Goal and Restart a Heart. These experiences will help you build skills in communication, public health, leadership, and teamwork while making a real impact in the community.
After successful completion of this degree, you can apply to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, and work as a Registered Nurse for Children.
