Youll also work on Hubble Telescope data and images from giant telescopes, as well as working with our own Beacon Observatory. Youll have access to our first-class research laboratories, which are equipped for synthetic and analytical techniques ranging from soft organic polymers to nanoparticles, to highly sensitive organometallic species.

On this four-year MPhys course, youll work with an academic in one of our research groups, carrying out an in-depth project connected with our research. Youll have the opportunity to spend your third year studying abroad at one of our partner institutions. This provides a wealth of personal and professional benefits. Youll experience a different culture, establish international contacts, grow in self-confidence and enhance your employability.

In addition, youll develop the transferable skills to open up a world of job opportunities, leading to careers in research, aeronautics, engineering, medical physics, defence, teaching, finance and data analytics.

If you dont have a science background or dont meet our entry requirements, you can take our foundation year.

Do you want to focus on physics? If youd like to understand our world at a fundamental level, from the smallest sub-atomic particles to the large-scale structure of the universe, youll be interested in our MPhys Physics course.

**Accreditation**
This course is fully accredited by the Institute of Physics.

**Your future**
You’ll graduate with an excellent grounding in scientific knowledge and extensive laboratory experience, as well as a toolbox of transferable skills highly sought after by employers. These include excellent communication and problem-solving skills; analytical thinking; effective time management; and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Our graduates have gone on to work for employers such as:

- Airbus

- The Met Office

- Defence Engineering and Science Group (MoD)

- BAE.

**Location**
Our city, your time.
It has never been a better time to study in Canterbury.
