A Great Location for a Great University
(4)·By Angus M·Languages· Jun 2025 I started my French and History course back in September 2024 and so far am absolutely loving it. The courses are amazing, and I am particularly enjoying the History course that I have taken as a minor. It is very good at covering all the basics while allowing you to explore further details—for example, we covered up to WWI in Semester 1, but the prereading they give us allowed us to answer questions in the lectures and gain a deeper understanding. There is one lecture and one seminar per course a week and four hours of grammar/speaking practice, which is enough for me while also leaving plenty of time to have a good social life and work alongside uni too (and it's worth noting that the uni is usually happy to rearrange your hours if you have a work schedule). It is also worth noting that the uni is not massive, so there isn't a lot of turnover in the people you meet, but it also means that it is quite easy to make friends. The accommodation is lush, but it is similarly priced to those in London so watch out for that! It is also likely that you will only get this accommodation for the first year—so the next two years, it will be necessary to look for private accommodation elsewhere, but so far the search has been pretty successful! Obviously, being in Paris, the nightlife is great, the clubs are pretty good and run all night, and the transport is good too with the Underground, night buses, and trams that run quite late at night! Some of the accommodation can be about 20 to 30 minutes from the uni though, as it is a city university! All in all, I am enjoying all aspects of my university and am looking forward to narrowing down my modules next year!
