Manufacturing Engineering PhD

Manufacturing engineering involves the research and development of systems, processes, machines, tools and equipment.<br/><br/>Our three year PhD is based within the Faculty of Engineering enabling you to choose from a wide range of research areas and work across traditional research boundaries being part of interdisciplinary teams.<br/><br/>The project can cover many different fields within this discipline, these are just an example of some fields you could consider:<br/><br/><br/>- design<br/><br/><br/>- manufacturing<br/><br/><br/>- assembly<br/><br/><br/>- measurement<br/><br/><br/>- testing <br/><br/><br/>- modelling<br/><br/><br/>Our research work spans a range of applications including:<br/><br/><br/>- medicine<br/><br/><br/>- aerospace and automotive engineering<br/><br/><br/>- energy and the construction industry<br/><br/><br/>- sustainable design and development<br/><br/><br/>It also includes work from the most fundamental studies up to near-commercial investigations.
