Computing Foundation Studies: Certificate of Higher Education (CertHE) is a one-year programme designed to build your academic confidence and introduce you to the core principles of computing.
The course equips you with the skills and knowledge needed to progress onto a full computing degree or move towards a career in the digital sector. On successful completion, you can progress to undergraduate study.
What you’ll study
You will develop foundations in computer science, data analysis and computational problem solving, alongside essential academic skills.
Modules may include:
• Academic Skills and Communication
• Data Analysis and Research Skills
• Foundations of Computer Science
• Problem Solving with Computing Thinking
Modules are subject to change.
How you’ll learn
Teaching takes place through lectures, seminars and workshops delivered by experienced academic staff.
You will receive regular support from an academic guidance tutor, alongside face-to-face and online careers and study support.
With teaching delivered over no more than three days per week, you will have flexibility to undertake part-time work, placements or internships alongside your studies.
How you’ll be assessed
Assessment methods include online tests, presentations and essays, designed to enhance understanding, encourage creative thinking and reflect real-world computing practice.
You will receive ongoing support from academic tutors throughout your studies.

This CertHE prepares you to progress onto an undergraduate computing degree or move towards roles within the computing and digital industries.
