Topics include: <br/><br/><br/>- Lifespan Development and Practice <br/><br/><br/>- International Education & Social Justice<br/><br/><br/>- Understanding Safeguarding (10 credits)<br/><br/><br/>- Professional Development<br/><br/><br/>- Working with Youth & Adolescence in context <br/><br/><br/>**Skills**<br/>Our priority is that you graduate with the skills and experience you will need to thrive in a career in Education. This includes:<br/><br/><br/>- Developing the knowledge and skills needed for team work in a range of communities and work settings with links to children and adolescents. This includes youth clubs, sports clubs and special educational settings.<br/><br/><br/>- Learning how to advocate for children, their families and communities.<br/><br/><br/>- Providing you with skills, knowledge and understanding needed to succeed in a variety of education-related jobs.<br/><br/><br/>- Learning about the fundamentals of how children learn, the importance of inclusion and an understanding of professionalism in education.<br/><br/><br/>**Career Opportunities:**<br/><br/>Graduates can work in child welfare agencies, providing services such as case management, family support, and advocacy for children and families in need.<br/><br/><br/>- Education: Graduates can work in secondary schools, or in post-secondary education as guidance counsellors, or educational administrators. They may undertake a Postgraduate QTS course in primary teaching if they wish to, although this course is not primary-focused.<br/><br/><br/>- Youth Development: Graduates can work in a variety of organizations that serve young people, such as youth clubs, community centres, or recreational programs.<br/><br/><br/>- Non-profit Management: Graduates can work in non-profit organizations that focus on children and youth issues, such as child abuse prevention, youth homelessness, or youth violence prevention.<br/><br/><br/>- Careers in the ‘GLAM sector (galleries, libraries, archives, and museums including heritage sites and arts venues and all cultural institutions with a mission to provide access to knowledge).<br/><br/><br/>- Policy and Advocacy: Graduates can work in government agencies, advocacy groups, or think-tanks, developing policies and programs that support children and youth.<br/><br/><br/>- Research: Graduates can work in academic or research institutions, conducting research on child and youth development, social policies, and interventions aimed at improving the lives of young people. We would support graduates to take one of our MA programmes to further develop their research skills.<br/>
