Nursing, Year 2

Freshers was amazing, we had loads of different events to suit everyone. Student association was on hand to answer any questions State of the art accommodation, eco friendly building, facilities including gym, library and cafe. Large facilitys, all have ample setting areas, quiet areas and private rooms. A wide selection of food to choose from at the cafes. State of the art gym facilities Skills classes are taught in Simulations which are as as close as possible to actual acute hospital settings. Real life medicatal equipment to train with and start to feel comfortable using. So great to live in the city , the nightlife is incredible and student nights are even better. Trains & buses run regularly.

Education / Teacher Training, Year 2

(5)·By Rhianna B·Education / Teacher Training· Jul 2021
Great! Lots of things to do and see at uni, also lots of information provided. Really enjoyed freshers week. I do not stay on campus so can't comment on this. Library always has what I require, the classrooms are good and ideal for working in groups - like we do a lot on my course. Gym is good too. Relevant to my degree and always fun. Can have a laugh most of the time whilst still learning and progressing. I am at the Ayr campus but stay in Glasgow so I make the most of Glasgow city life.

Mechanical engineering, Third Year

UWS is an amazing university that is not given enough recognition or credit! I started my degree off in another more prestigious university which compares in no way to UWS! I'm receiving a first class education delivered by first class Dr's and Professors in their respected fields! Lecturers encourage you to email them or drop by their offices with any queries! My only regret in life is not going to UWS sooner! It is an honour to be a student at this university and I rave about it to everyone! I'm just happy to be there! UWS isn't just first class. It's world class!

My university is very supportive with both academic and personal issues. The standards they have are amazing however, parking for students could be better.

Nursing, Year 1

So far my university experience has been exceptional. All of my lecturers are very supportive and give me all the help I need for my studies. It is all round a great uni. The student union is fun and laid back and has good food! As does the two cafe's on campus (Paisley) the library facilities are excellent also and the staff there are very helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend this uni to anyone thinking of studying here

Accounting, Graduate

(4.8)·By Katie L·Accounting· Jul 2021
As the university was in Hamilton there isn't really much to do in Hamilton so we done our own freshers and joined in to the Glasgow ones as there was more to do. I live at home so this does not apply The uni in Hamilton is brand new so is perfect! The library is great, they have little pods you can hire out and study together in, each have a tv linked up to a computer so you can put up past papers or powerpoints from the lectures. The cafe is good too, reasonably priced and tasty food. The classrooms are mostly good, but they have open areas used as classrooms which is frustrating from time to time as you get the noise from people passing. For the first 3 years most of our lecturers were great! Really helpful and got back to you really quickly. This fourth year online isn't the best but most of the lecturers are trying their hardest to do what they can with the resources available Well our university is outside Hamilton it's in an industrial estate so this doesn't really apply to us.

Business Studies / Management, Year 3

(4.8)·By Kristofer S·Business· Jul 2021
It was quite full considering what's going on right now. The university had enough planned to ensure that there was something for people to engage with during the first week. I've seen them once, because I stay off-campus, but from what I saw it was a good size, very modern. The social spaces in the university accommodation is really good too! The classrooms are a bit antiquated looking now. The Student Union is a good venue, it's got a very spacious social area on the ground floor , facilities are really good too! The course is very interactive, it has a lot of time for personal reflection and critique. The lectures are all but the same too, sometimes the only problem is the lecturer when they don't engage enough with the students. I love city life. I live fifteen minutes away by most methods of transport, so bars and restaurants are so close and I work in the city too. It's a very sociable place to be at any time of year!

Other, Year 1

Uni so far has been pretty enjoyable! Meeting new people and beginning to study my course has been great. The farther I progress within the course the more I am enjoying it. Being able to independently study is something I quite prefer and my university experience so far has been pleasant.
