Potential literature content spans a broad range of genres, periods, cultures and themes, analysing works from contemporary and historical perspectives. One of the oldest English Literature departments in the UK, Bangor’s specialisms range from the literatures of the Middle Ages and Renaissance period, through to Victorian and Modernist and contemporary forms. Our staff have published on topics such as gender and devotion, materiality and book history, social networks and infrastructure.
Studying Media and English Literature in combination provides a comprehensive perspective on storytelling and communications techniques. Drawing on inspiration from others, including your peers, enhances your own ability to craft compelling written and visual work in various media forms. There are opportunities to gain practical experience, forging links with potential future employers in the media and creative industries, as well as opportunities to attend industry talks and take part in workshops.
‘Placement Year’ and 'International Experience Year’ options are available for this course. You will have the opportunity to fully consider these options when you have started your course at Bangor and can make an application for a transfer onto such a pathway at the appropriate time. You can find more information about these options on our website and if you have any questions, please get in touch.
If you don’t have the required qualifications for this degree-level course or are looking to re-enter education after time away from study, then a Foundation Year Programme might be the right choice for you. Please see Media, Film and Journalism (with Foundation Year) P320.
