In Modern Languages, modules allow you to gain insight into the cinema, literature, history, and culture of the country whose language you are studying. We cater for those beginning a language from scratch, as well as more advanced learners. Spending your third year of this four-year degree in a country where the language is spoken helps consolidate your language learning, increasing your confidence and cultural awareness.
In Media at Bangor, you will have plenty of opportunities to create original media and communications, both as an individual and working in teams, making use of our well-equipped studios. Touching on topics such as the history of film and documentary, journalism literary theory, and news media, you will develop technical and creative skills related to editing, blogging, and publishing.
There are also extra-curricular activities that will both boost your subject knowledge and allow you to get to know your fellow students. These include cultural and social events organised by student-run societies in the academic departments. In addition, Pontio – Bangor University’s Arts and Innovation Centre – means that there will be a range of plays, films and other performances only a short walk away from where many of your classes will be taking place.
‘Placement Year’ and 'International Experience Year’ options are available for this course. You will have the opportunity to fully consider these options when you have started your course at Bangor and can make an application for a transfer onto such a pathway at the appropriate time. You can find more information about these options on our website and if you have any questions, please get in touch.
If you don’t have the required qualifications for this degree-level course or are looking to re-enter education after time away from study, then a Foundation Year Programme might be the right choice for you. Please see Modern Languages (with Foundation Year) R808 or Media, Film and Journalism (with Foundation Year) P320.
