Hospitality, leisure, recreation and tourism, Year 1

(4.5)·By Abigail E·Tourism / Transport / Travel· Oct 2018
So far, so good. On my second day we went to the lake to build rafts and we also went to the Escape Room. Classes have been great and there's amazing support available to help you through your first assignments. Campus is easy to get around and has a Starbucks which is a bonus for those Monday morning lectures. Getting along really well with my class and I'm really enjoying the uni life. I look forward to many nights out and last minute studying ahead!

It was splendid, we learned a lot through communication and how it affects the business world it is beautiful they offer a lot of courses and you're never alone facilities weren't the best but there were nearby facilities our tutor had covered everything and explained it neatly it was quite nice since we lived in the city centre

Very good made lots of friends quickly, there were lots of different themes at different bars there are no halls, you choose out of the many student flats right opposite the university Good facilities all a decent size helpful tutors and course was tailored to suit what route we wanted to go down Uni and accommodation all very close to the town, everything in walking distance

Criminology, Third Year

The experience I have really enjoyed. Most of the staff are very helpful and work with you to help ensure everyone does their best in assignments and exams. The style of teaching is one i prefer which is helpful as it helps me understand the subject and grasp the concepts quicker.

However the library could be better and I find it is always lacking in resources.

Biology / Biotechnology, Graduate

Small university centre so we don't have much of a freshers week unfornunately. We had a small event on campus with some stalls, where we got some discount codes and free stationary. We arranged a private “freshers night” on our course. I lived at home so I can't directly comment. Although a few friends who did live in student accommodation had mixed reviews. Some of the houses were very under regulated with parties most nights so my friend couldn't sleep. Classrooms and library were great. Our library wasn't immensely stocked, but we had access to use the library at Lancaster university as they were our degree governing body. Laboratories needed a bit of modernisation and were lacking compared to others. There was a few areas for students to chill out and also a few quiet spaces for students to work in groups or as individuals. Very small class sizes, so lots of one to one time with tutors. This greatly benefited many on the course. The lectures were mostly good depending on the lecturer. We had access to all lectures on an online portal afterwards also which was great to go over if needed. Blackpool isn't only a town, so again I cannot really comment on this.
