Best of Both Worlds

If you want a uni that will support you with the harsh demands of medicine through psychological and financial services but also offers a range of academic, sport, music, drama, and creative extracurricular activities then Brighton and Sussex Medical School is the place for you! Medicine is one of the most difficult degrees but BSMS makes it enjoyable through interactive lectures, module tutorials, and seminars where you can dive straight into clinical skills and revise for upcoming exams and assessments. There are also opportunities for group work (such as poster presentations), research, and presentation skills—most notably through Student Selected Component modules about subjects within and outside of medicine. Also, programmes such as "Time for Dementia" allow students to have a more holistic understanding of disease processes and the emotional and social impacts, as this involves going to patients’ homes and discussing their diagnosis in depth.

There are a range of accommodation options, some with ensuites and some without, all of which have a communal area and laundry services. Some on-campus ones are within a 10-minute walk to campus buildings, but there are bus stops throughout campus giving you easy access to external accommodation, the city centre, and most of all the beach!

The nightlife in Brighton is great, with several seafront clubs all in the heart of town with weekly events, so there will always be something you can enjoy.

Lastly, this is one of the few courses where you are guaranteed a job when you graduate, and from Year 2, the university works with you to support your decision regarding specialisation as a doctor.
